My practice is painting with oil on silk and Intaglio Mezzotint printmaking.

It is work that examines everyday images. These paintings and prints at first may appear representational.

On closer analyses you can find references to Darwin's theory of natural selection.

Disguised is a series of works I have been developing since 2015,

paintings and mezzotint etchings that reflect my interest in the myriad disguises in society and nature.

The disguise of self becomes the recurring theme.

My work explores clothing and make-up as a façade also with a protective role.

Images from the high street and passengers commuting question our identity in contemporary society. Women shopping, make-up promotions and reflections in department stores, a distorted and dark focus on consumer desires.

I apply paint and wax to layers of primed silk; inspired by found images and photographs I have taken.

I hand print the mezzotint etchings in low editions.
